Location
The reason that ewerk is located in the historic Friedrichstadt district in the center of Berlin is that technical limitations on electricity distribution made it necessary to build a power plant near the area that was being supplied. ewerk was one of AEG’s first central power stations.
It is located in the largest block in the center of Berlin in the historic Friedrichstadt district between Wilhelmstraße, Leipziger Straße, Mauerstraße and Zimmerstraße, and is roughly equidistant from Gendarmenmarkt and Potsdamer Platz.
ewerk is only a stone’s throw away from the finance ministry, Museum für Post und Telekommunikation, Friedrichstraße and the former site of Checkpoint Charlie. ewerk is a few minutes’ walk from Gendarmenmarkt, Potsdamer Platz, Leipziger Platz, the Brandenburg gate, the consumer protection ministry, the ministry for women and social welfare, the British, U.S. and Russian embassies, the Schauspielhaus, the Lafayette and Quartier 206.

Since the ewerk site extends from Mauerstraße to Wilhelmstraße, there are also two possible access roads.
Please note that the office of ewerk GmbH is located on Mauerstraße, 78-80, although the access road and entrance for the location for guests, service staff and all deliveries can be reached via Wilhelmstraße 43, directly opposite the Ministry of Finance.
